We are thrilled to be awarded the first place in the category for Best Network Function Virtualization Solution with our Hyperscale Datacenter System 8000.
Our HDS 8000 uses the game-changing potential of Intel® Rack Scale Design (Intel® RSD) and brings software-defined infrastructure to telecom service providers. With a disaggregated hardware architecture and optical backplane, it is designed to manage the compute, storage and networking resources in telecom operators’ datacenters. It also hosts the control and analytics software to monitor and manage the resources.
Datacenters as digital factories
“The largest transformation of digital systems is beginning right now, and it will reshape the industry as we know it. No longer just a support function, digital services infrastructure will be designed to drive top line revenue growth and strategic advantage. With datacenters designed as digital factories—hyperscalable, software-defined, automated, governed and accessible in a way that you’ve never seen before—datacenters realizing efficient public, private and hybrid clouds. This award demonstrates Ericsson’s ability to showcase successful use cases of virtualization technology deployment facilitated this year in an African operator network.” says Indranil Das, head of Digital Services at Ericsson MEA.
First HDS-delivery to the African continent
As being the project manager for Ericsson in this exciting project, I feel very proud with the first delivery of HDS to the African continent with the aim to reduce opex for the IT datacenter and improve business agility for the applications. Highly elastic and scalable private IT cloud which can further be expanded for Telecom Network and can be integrated with OSS/BSS for deploying new telco services in minutes.
The AfricaCom is one of the most important events in Africa and the AfricaCom Awards celebrate the achievements of the best companies, solutions, products and personalities improving connectivity and driving Africa through the fourth industrial revolution.
